We did not get to taste the lechon (by itself) – but we were able to make the left-overs into lechon paksiw.

No one can argue that Cebu has the best lechon. So when Mary Ann offered to sponsor our lechon, and that it will come all the way from Cebu, and we’ll have 2 instead of 1, we got so excited. Imagine having 2 lechon, via Cebu Pacific, and sponsored at that!

Early on, we were told that we needed to send someone to pick-up the lechon from the airline’s cargo office and we had a hard time finding one. When we did, he was one of our groomsmen, and he asked another groomsman to accompany him. The lechon was supposed to arrive on a 1:30PM flight though, which meant it was either 2 of our groomsmen won’t get to march, or we need to look for an earlier flight.

The night before the wedding when we finally opened our e-mails, Mary Ann said she’d take care of bringing the lechon to Manila, and they will arrive on an 8:30 flight. At that time, R was able to ask 2 of the groomsmen again to please be at the airport by 8:30-9 to meet with Mary Ann and her sister.

The following day, the wedding day, we received 2 messages from Mary Ann. One said something like “flight will leave at 7:30” and the other one “8:30”. So we understood that as “flight leaves at 7:30 and will arrive in Manila at 8:30”.

Several phone calls and an hour later, they finally met. They -Mary Ann + sister and the groomsmen, went straight to Tektite to drop off the lechons. We were only told that the lechons were already in the reception venue.

The only time we saw the lechon at the reception was when the waiters were serving some to our VIP guests. The left-overs were packed and separated into two. The 2 lechon heads both went to M’s cousin who brought the then lechon paksiw back to Singapore.
