M only went for a trial hair & make-up with Carmie & Alex 2 weeks before the wedding, months after we already booked them.
We were initially considering other HMUAs prior to booking them, but Carmie’s portfolio was the deciding factor. R liked her portfolio so much that M booked her right away.
When we set the date for our trial HMU, we were not expecting a straight “yes” as it was on a Saturday, and we thought they might be booked (or someone might book them) for an event. But they did not have any booking, and were available on that day.
On the day of the trial, as there were some problems with MRT, we were late by 10-15mins. As soon as we arrived, Carmie started the MU, while Alex did the hair at the same time. Peg 1 was done – it was awesome. Make-up was natural looking and hair was very neat.
She then asked if M wanted anything darker – she gave choices: eyes or lips. Both R&M thought the lips were already the right color, the eyes could probably go a bit darker, although it already looked OK. After a few minutes, we decided. Eyes it is.
Peg 2 – darker eyes but still looked very natural; hair looked more classic. They made us choose between the 2 looks they created that day – we chose the 2nd one.
She asked us to have M’s brows shaped for the wedding, but we never had the time to visit a salon.
Wedding Day. Carmie & Alex started setting-up right away. Alex first set M’s hair – checked the weight of the veil, and made M choose from the hair accessories he brought and the one M brought (Alex usually gives his brides free hair accessory). He also made the atmosphere light by throwing jokes around. Carmie started with one of the mom’s make-up – she also used airbrush for them which we found surprising as we thought both moms would have traditional make-up on. Her hands were very light as well, unlike some MUAs’.
Before the groom marched, Carmie blotted R’s face and advised him to only blot and not wipe too hard.
They stayed until just before the bride’s march – adjusted the veil, blotted M’s T-zone and applied a bit more blush-on, and threw some more punch lines just before the church door opened.
We both love working with them.
Package Cost: PhP 15,000.
Package Inclusion: HMU for the bride (touchups until pictorial in the church after ceremony), HMU for two persons (MOG & MOB), MU for the groom (if desired).
R&M’s rating: 5+
