M's mom has been asking too many questions about our wedding rings, and although we already sent her a design, she wanted to know if we have any specific gold karat and diamond carat/cut in mind. And we are both clueless, except for the gold karat.
When we searched Google for the 4 C's of the diamond, the website of Five Star Diamonds came up. The 4 Cs: Cut, Color, Clarity and Carat-Weight.
Cut refers to the proportion, and not to the shape. A perfect diamond-cut is one which allows the light that enters from the top of the diamond to be reflected and dispersed back to the top facets.
Diamonds, according to the internet, "come naturally in every color of the rainbow". The best in terms of color is the colorless one. See below the grading of "white" diamonds.
Clarity refers to the lack of impurities in the diamond. Flawless = very rare, thus very valuable.
For the carats, same as gold, the higher the carat-weight, the more expensive it gets.
